Well, a friend from church posted on Facebook that they were getting rid of a gently used twin mattress to the first person to want it and we jumped on it! The mattress was delivered on Sunday afternoon while Aston was taking a nap and when he woke up, we set it up in his room to just get him used to the idea. This was his reaction to his new big boy bed:
He was so excited! The blanket we put on it though was not a twin blanket and kept coming up and that was very disturbing to our Type A little boy :) So we headed to Target to pick out a new blanket for his Big Boy Bed. He picked out a super soft blue blanket that he lay down on in the middle of the store.
We set it up when we got home, put him in the tub and after his bath, we asked him which bed he wanted to sleep in that night. He choose the big boy bed. He cried a bit and mommy needed to go lay down with him for a few minutes but then he was good and slept all night!
He now sleeps for all naps and nights in his Big Boy Bed and has not looked back! We are SHOCKED at how smooth this transition went. We know that it isn't always this easy but this just fits Aston little personality. When he sets his mind on something he "mans up" as Max says and sticks to it. SO much fun to watch this little boy grow! But so sad at the same time. Where did my baby go?
*The funny thing I want to remember is that he will not get out of his bed until we come into the room. He sits on his bed until we come to get him when he wakes up. This totally surprised me and I know it won't last forever but we have trained him well to stay in his bed and he is a rule follower so he does. Cracks me up :)
